Tips for Teaching Young Kids to Share

Teaching kids how to share is important since it is a key part of making friends, playing cooperatively, and going to a preschool in Louisiana. However, sharing is still a foreign concept to most children.

Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to encourage sharing with your kids. Here are some ways you can try:

  • Explain why sharing is good for them and others. You can start with something like, ‘When you share your toys or food with your friends, everyone gets to have fun.’
  • Give your kids plenty of praise when you see them trying to share or take turns. You can tell them, ‘Great job on letting your friend play with your toys!’
  • Play cooperative games that don’t involve a single winner. Although competition isn’t bad, it isn’t appropriate for young kids, especially for preschoolers.
  • Before playdates or going to a daycare in Youngsville, Louisiana, make sure to talk about sharing.

Be sure to make sharing fun by incorporating cooperative games, allowing children to work together toward a common goal. Additionally, encouraging them to take turns in playing with a toy with the help of a kitchen timer points out that sharing their toys does not mean giving away their toys but playing together and building friendships.

At Creative Minds Preschool of Youngsville, we strongly believe that teaching kids how to share should be a part of their early childhood education. If you need help in this area, we can help you out. Contact us now for more details.
